The work related to Raana is in top gear. K S Ravikumar is directing this film while A R Rahman is composing the music. Rajni is donning triple roles in this film. Deepika Padukone is pairing with the younger Rajni. Though Deepika is busy in Bollywood, she has somehow managed to give her dates because it was Rajni’s film. She has openly said that she is proud and happy because she is acting in Rajni’s film. Talks are going on with Rekha to pair with elder Rajni. Asin was being considered to pair with another Rajni. There was also news that Asin has been signed for this film. But there were protest that Asin should not act in Rajni’s film. The Tamil Film Federation had imposed a ban that Tamil actors and actresses should not go to Sri Lanka because the Government had killed thousands of innocent Tamilians. But Asin without caring about the ban participated in the shooting of the Hindi film Ready. Nadigar Sangam has also condemned this activity of Asin. The Hindu People Party (Hindu Makkal Katchi) had also mentioned that Asin should not be allowed to act in Tamil films. When the news was published that Asin is pairing with Rajni in Raana, there were strong protests from various quarters that Asin should not act in this film. So the film crew decided to remove Asin from this film. She has been replaced by Vidhya Balan.
