He’s the maker of History and for sure, there would be none getting somewhere near him when it comes to his contribution towards film and politics and literature. Now the legend has geared up with another film titled ‘Neeyindri Naanillai’ based on his novel ‘Suruli Malai’ penned before few years.
The film starring Udhay Kiran, Meera Jasmine and Vivek in lead roles is directed by Ilanivel. The film was launched yesterday morning herein AVM Studios, Chennai with who’s who of Kollywood making their presence.
Chief Minister Karunanidhi, Director-Actor Bhagyaraj, Actor Kamal Haasan, Actor Surya, Actress Manorama, Producer AVM Saravanan, Actor Vivek and rest of the cast-crewmembers were present for the occasion.
Speaking to the throngs, Actor Surya said, ‘As my debut film ‘Nerukku Naer was released, chief minister M. Karunanidhi congratulated me with a letter. That has taken to a great flight of encouragement.’
Actor Kamal Haasan on the occasion said, ‘NASA has invented a new pen that will continuously write for next 40 years of time. Well, as I thought about presenting it to Kalainyar, I had to rethink does the pen deserve to be with CM. Of course, Karunanidhi Ayya has been writing for past 70 years. Unless, one has a perfect knowledge and passion for creativity, Pen is off no use… ‘
Actress Manorama said, ‘During those days I and Karunanidhi used to perform stage plays together. I used to perform the role of DMK Party woman while he enacted the role of a congressman. Finally, in the end I would transform him into my party’s patron… It’s really distressing to see that many of younger generation are making fun of him by cheap mimics…’
Actor Vivek – ‘Both producer and director came up with an offer that Chief Minister wants me to be in this film. When I enquired about stunt master, they accidentally spelled ‘CM’. I acknowledged them saying of course he’s a great stunt man. We perform stunts with more ropes and dupes. But he stands ignited with more energy on fighting for righteousness…’
At the end Karunanidhi rendered his speech ‘Ilanivel has been an important person in my life who doesn’t leave uncounted about my personal letters. Indeed, he was the one who titled this film pertaining to my gratitude of respect for Anna. Kamal Haasan had just said he came up practicing my dialogues. But basically, he has a great talent that has pulled him over to greater heights.’ Later he added that the concession on entertainment tax for Tamil titles on films will be sustained although it causes a loss of 50Crores per annum for the Government.
