‘Vedigundu Murugesan’ is a commercial film with mediocre elements. Pasupathy has stepped out of his pragmatic image and comes with an entertaining effort. Nonetheless, certain absurd aspects, the film will be a successful film in single screens, towns and villages. Director Moorthy hasn’t excellently done a film like his previous film ‘Karuppasamy Kuthagaitharar’. Perhaps, there are some good and interesting parts with sentiments, romance, comedy and dialogues.

But what make us annoyed are the continuous message-oriented dialogues of Pasupathy.

Vedigundu Murugesan (Pasupathy) is a carefree man who with his own job of supplying water to roadside hotels leads a contented life. He has a mentally challenged girl with him who’s none other than his schoolmate Ponni (Deepa). Very often, Murugesan is charged with fine and penalties by town court judge (Nirmala Periasamy of Sun TV News). When the village’s baddie Kotanjan (Raneesh) molests the mentally challenged girl, Murugesan avenges by murdering him. Rest of the story is about the following encounters and tribulations and how Murugesan overcomes it.

Pasupathy should’ve remained on status of being decent. But all the times, his voices are over-loud. But, with his hilarious moments he sways for a good response. Jyothirmayee is good on her part while Moorthy could’ve opted for a good-looking girl for the characterization of ‘Ponni’. Why should he portray her so weirdly? Sorry to say, it creates a kind of ignorance amongst the audiences.

Musical score by Dheena isn’t appreciable. Except the songs ‘Neenda Dhooram’ by Yesudas and Bombay Jayashree, nothing is soothing to your ears. Cinematography and editing looks slightly dull.

Beginning of the film till the next 30mins, it’s filled with few unwanted dragging elements. The film has equal halves of appreciable as well uninteresting vistas. Vadivelu’s performance adds more strength to screenplay.

Rating: 3/10.
